SWATCH BHARAT ABHIYAN

Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has launched Swachh Vidyalaya campaign, as part of Swachh Bharat Mission with an overall goal of ensuring that every school in India has functional water, sanitation and hygienic facilities. This initiative aims to improve childrens health and learning outcomes.

Petronet LNG Ltd. under this initiative has taken up construction of toilet blocks in Government schools in different places: Kochi:
16 toilet blocks constructed in 8 remote schools in Ernakulam District. In some cases the schools are not even connected by motorable roads and infested with wild animals. The Kochi CSR team took up this challenging job and has successfully completed the task.

Dahej:
After conducting need assessment survey the terminal started construction of school toilets in villages Luvara, Dahej, Lakhigam, Ambheta and Jageshwar. Total 5 blocks for girls and 5 blocks for boys consisting of 33 WFC and 16 UL are being constructed.

Assam:
The Company adopted 75 schools for construction of 100 toilet blocks for boys/girls in 15 far flung districts of Assam. The funds for construction were transferred by the Company to Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhijan(RMSA) Assam in March & April 2015. The funds were further transferred by RMSA to the individual School Management Committees. As PLL has no presence in Assam it was a demanding task to monitor the progress of construction as well as to motivate the School Management Committees to take up construction on priority basis. Three teams were formed consisting of officers from Dahej, Kochi and Corporate Office. Frequent visits to all the construction sites and daily monitoring and coordination with the school principals, junior engineers and state officials resulted in the project being successful.

Delhi NCR:
4 toilet blocks constructed in Rashtriya Madyamik Vidyalaya, Faridabad.

The details of schools where the Company has provided toilet blocks facilities for boys/girls in Kochi and Assam are available on the website of the Ministry of HRD.
