Petronet LNG Limited is one of the fastest growing world-class Public Limited Company in the Indian energy sector. It has set up the country's first LNG receiving and regasification terminal at Dahej, Gujarat with present nominal capacity of 17.5 MMTPA and another terminal at Kochi, Kerala having a nominal capacity of 5 MMTPA. The company is also exploring suitable opportunities within and outside India to expand its business presence.
The Company had set up South East Asia's first LNG Receiving and Regasification Terminal with an original nameplate capacity of 5 MMTPA at Dahej, Gujarat. The infrastructure was developed in the shortest possible time and at a benchmark cost. The capacity of the terminal has been expanded in phases which is currently 15 MMTPA and the same is under expansion to 17.5 MMTPA. The terminal has 6 LNG storage tanks and other vaporization facilities. The terminal is meeting around 40% of the total gas demand of the country.
LNG TRANSPORTATION
PLL is responsible for the arrangement of transportation of LNG from ExxonMobil in Australia to PLL's Regasification Terminal at Kochi.
PLL has signed a long term Time Charter Agreement with the Consortium of Ship Owners led by M/s. NYK Lines Limited, for Time Charter of one LNG Tankers of 173,000 cubic metres capacity. Vessel named as Prachi, will be used for transportation of 1.5 MMTPA LNG from Gorgon, Australia to LNG Terminal at Kochi, Kerala. M/s. NYK Lines is a leading shipping company and one of the largest operator of LNG tonnage. The other members of the consortium are Mitsui OSK Line, K Line and The Shipping Corporation of India Limited.
Port Operation at Kochi:
PLL signed Port Operation Services Agreement with M/s. Sparkle Port Services Limited (SPSL). The Port Operator owns and operates Tug Boats, Mooring cum Pilot Boat and undertakes safe towing & mooring of the LNG Tankers at Kochi LNG terminal under the guidance of PLL's Port operation team.
Pilotage and Vessel traffic Management Services (VTMS) are provided by Cochin Port Trust. The pilots provided for LNG tanker movement have thorough local knowledge and have undergone simulation training for smooth, safe and efficient berthing of conventional to Q Flex size LNG vessels.
